Terms of Service

Last updated: October 27, 2026

These terms apply to pet care services provided by Indiannie Pet Sitting, a sole proprietorship owned and operated by Annie Schumann in West Lafayette, Indiana. Booking a service, signing a service agreement, or leaving your pet in my care means you accept these terms.

Every client also signs an individual service agreement covering your pets, your home, and your specific instructions. Where that agreement and these terms differ, your signed service agreement controls.

01Services and service area

I offer drop-in visits, dog walks, overnight stays, vet and groomer transport, farm animal care, light home tidying, and added companionship time. Care is provided in your home. I do not board pets at my residence.

I serve West Lafayette, Lafayette, and surrounding Tippecanoe County. Requests beyond 15 miles are considered case by case based on my schedule. A mileage fee may apply beyond 10 miles.

All care is provided by me personally. I do not use rotating sitters or subcontractors.

02Consultation and booking

Every new client gets a free 15–20 minute consultation before any service is booked. To set one up, call or text me at (765) 581-1170. For overnight stays and longer engagements I also do an in-person meet-and-greet. Service is confirmed only once we have both agreed on dates, scope, and rate, and your service agreement is signed.

I reserve the right to decline or end service for any pet or household where I judge that the animal, my safety, or the quality of care is at risk.

03Rates and payment

04Cancellations and schedule changes

Life happens, and I'd rather you tell me early than not at all. Please give as much notice as you can. Cancellation windows and any applicable fees for holidays, peak dates, and overnight stays are set out in your service agreement.

If I have to cancel because of illness, an emergency, or unsafe conditions, I will notify you as soon as possible and you will not be charged for visits I don't complete. Where I can, I'll help you find alternate coverage, but I can't guarantee a replacement.

05Access to your home

You choose the access method: a key, a garage code, a smart lock, or a lockbox. Keys and codes are kept secure, stored separately from your name and address, and used only for scheduled service. Keys are returned at the end of service unless you ask me to hold them for future bookings.

If I cannot get into your home at a scheduled visit, I'll contact you and your emergency contact immediately. The visit is still billable, since the time was reserved for you.

06Your responsibilities

07Health and emergencies

If your pet appears ill or injured, I will make reasonable efforts to reach you first, then your veterinarian, then your emergency contact. If I can't reach anyone and I believe the situation is urgent, I am authorized to seek veterinary care on your behalf.

You are responsible for all veterinary costs, transport, and related expenses, regardless of the outcome and regardless of whether I was able to reach you first.

08Limitation of liability

I care for your pets and your home with genuine attention, but pets are living animals and some risk can't be removed. Indiannie Pet Sitting is not liable for illness, injury, escape, death, or damage arising from: pre-existing or undisclosed medical conditions; behavior not disclosed to me; unsecured fencing, gates, doors, or windows; other people or animals with access to the property; or events outside my reasonable control.

I am not responsible for damage or loss caused by household systems, appliances, weather, utility failure, or third parties entering the home. If a loss is found to be caused by my negligence, my total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the services in question.

You agree that I may restrain, redirect, or decline to walk a pet when I believe it is necessary for the animal's safety or my own.

09Photos and updates

I send photo updates during visits as part of the service. With your permission, I may also use photos of your pet on my website or social media. Your name, address, and any identifying details are never included. You can decline photo use at any time, and I'll remove existing images on request.

If your home has cameras, smart doorbells, or other recording devices, please tell me before service begins. See the Privacy Notice for more.

10Severe weather and unforeseen events

In severe weather, road closures, or other conditions that make travel genuinely unsafe, I will do everything reasonably possible to reach your pet and will keep you updated. If visits must be shortened, delayed, or rescheduled for safety, I'll adjust your invoice accordingly.

11Ending service

Either of us may end an ongoing arrangement at any time with reasonable notice. I may end service immediately if a pet poses a danger, if information was materially misrepresented, if the home is unsafe, or if payment is significantly overdue. Completed services remain payable.

12Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Indiana. Any dispute will be handled in the state or county courts serving Tippecanoe County, Indiana.

13Changes to these terms

I may update these terms as the business changes. The current version always lives on this page with its revision date. Continuing to book service after an update means you accept the revised terms.
